About the Department
- Amdanga Jugal Kishore Mahavidyalaya started its journey way back in 2007, and since then it has been expanding its limits steadily. The Department of English has been steadfastly contributing to this wholesome progress since inception. Initially, the Department lacked Full-Time Teachers, and strived to thrive with a meagre number of students. Honours course was successfully introduced in 2016 - 2017 academic session to meet the growing demands of the students. Gradually, with evolving times and with the endeavours put forth by the Head of the Institution and the management body, more teachers were recruited – some on substantive and others on temporary basis, thereby increasing its potentiality and strengthening its foothold in the wider academia with varied and diversified knowledge of the professors. In its short journey, the Department of English has faced some challenges, but each time it has come out stronger and with greater successes. Presently, there are three Assistant Professors and one State Aided College Teacher working at the Department at their full capacity and contributing to higher excellences. They are in constant touch with the students, looking after their academic needs even beyond the classroom exchanges. Such are the readiness and bona fides of the professors that students can easily approach them and interact without dithering much about it. Since this college is situated in a rural belt and many of its pupils are first generation learners, the professors keep in mind their levels of understanding and impart knowledge to them in the most suitable manner possible. The modes of teaching-learning, besides conventional methods, include audio-visual and PPT presentations. The Department also organizes seminars and webinars at students’ level and at teachers’ level as well. Students are always encouraged in their extracurricular pursuits in addition to their ambition for higher studies. Essentially, the Department of English tries to reach out to its students at its fullest capacity.
